Zentel Tablet is a widely used anthelmintic medication whose active ingredient is albendazole, a broad-spectrum anti-worm agent. It is effective against a variety of parasitic worm infections, including threadworm, also known as strongyloidiasis, as well as other common intestinal worms. 

Threadworm infection is caused by the nematode Strongyloides stercoralis, which can invade the small intestine and sometimes other tissues. Zentel Tablet UK works by inhibiting the parasite’s ability to absorb glucose, disrupting its energy metabolism, which immobilises and kills the worms. This action helps clear the infection and relieves symptoms such as abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, or itching. 


Clinical guidelines list Zentel as an effective treatment option for threadworm infections. For confirmed or suspected strongyloidiasis, Zentel is usually given at 400 mg once daily for three consecutive days in both adults and children over two years of age, under medical supervision. 
In addition to threadworm, Zentel is also indicated for other parasitic infections such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and pinworms. Its broad spectrum makes it a useful choice in mixed helminth infestations. 

While generally well tolerated, Zentel can cause side effects like nausea, headache, dizziness, or mild gastrointestinal discomfort in some people. It should be used as directed by a healthcare professional, and it is not recommended during pregnancy due to potential risks.
